Paseky nad Jizerou is well-known especially for its history, traditions, active social activity and last but not least also excellent conditions for skiing and snowboarding in ski resort Paseky.
Perhaps everybody knows book Remote Patriots written by famous writer Karel Václav Rais, which he wrote just in Paseky nad Jizerou and which describes the life of local highlanders in the 19th century. Popular scripturist, chronicler and violin-maker Věnceslav Metelka influenced this region culturally to a great extent. We recommend visiting museum The Monument of Remote Patriots, situated 20 m from Chalet ASPEN, to learn more about the history of this part of Krkonose and Jizerske Mountains.
Romantic view of the Giant Mountains
Baroque Church of St. Wenceslas is located in the proximity of this Krkonose museum. Paseky Music Festival takes place in this church in the middle of summer each year which has excellent performers and audience.
You can enjoy an unrepeatable view of western Giant Mountains from the church location – especially of Rokytnice nad Jizerou and its dominants, Kotel Mountain and Lysá Mountain. It is possible to see even the highest Czech mountain – Sněžka (1,602 meters above the sea level) in favourable weather.
Ski resort Paseky nad Jizerou
Locality Paseky nad Jizerou is very attractive in winter season, because the place is located between two ski resorts – ski lifts of the municipal office and ski lift Pizár. You can get to ski lifts on ski in normal winter conditions when it is enough snow. You can find adjusted cross-country tracks connected to „Jizerská magistrála“ skiing track in the proximity of ski resorts.
Tourist routes (for example to „Štěpánka“ observation tower) are very popular both in summer months and out of season, as well as cycling routes that go directly through Paseky nad Jizerou. Cableway in Harrachov or Rokytnice nad Jizerou can help you get to the mountain ridges. Once there, you can visit near-by Dvoračky, spring of Elbe, Sněžné jámy, Vosecká boda or the mound of Hanče and Vrbata.
